Triglav national park

Triglav National Park
is the only national park in Slovenia. The higest point in the park is the summit of Mt Triglav 2864m, from which the park earned its name. The park covers the major part of the Julian Alps in Slovenia.The natural features of Triglav National Park are reason enough for people to visit.A major draw is its mountainous terrain,featuring the higest and moste immense peaks in Slovenia, the deep,gaping glacial valleys,lakes,rivers and ravines, the mountain pastures and woods, a rich cultural heritage and picturesque villages with their well-tended surrounding countryside.

The park is named after Mt.Triglav (2864m), symbol of the Slovenia, which is situated almost in the middle of the protected territory. From it the valleys spread out radial, supplying water to two large river Systems which have theirsources in the Julian Alps: the Soca river and the Sava river flowing to the Adriatic and Black Sea respectively.
In the tourist centres of the Triglav National Park and their immediate surroundings we are increasingly aware of the advantages and importance a national park has in developing natural and desirable tourist and recreational activities.Hiiking is no doubt one of the most appropriate ways a visitor can really experience the unspoiled surroundings of a national park.And it is only fair to remaind visitors that in the park they are entering a very sensetive natural ecosystem where special care must be taken.
